It worked, but it's comparable to riding a skateboard vs. It was painfully slow to the point of nearly being unusable. While I *did* get it to install and think of the USB as the "C" drive, the bandwidth required between the booted kernel and the hard drive just isn't there with USB 2.0. Unfortunately, it was all a waste of time - Windows 7 is just not designed to work from a USB device. Most definitely! I've used WinUSB, as well as a couple of other programs to make a bootable installation of Win7 on USB. So won't get back to this until then most likely.Ī bootable USB drive is just a USB that you can boot the system on to install the OS, not a Live Disk as you seem to be suggesting.Īlso, is there a reason you can't run this program in a Win7 VM? However, the licensor of the product will only allow it to be used on one computer with the level of license I hold. If I could install Profili2 on the drive, I would go for that option. I don't want a bootable usb drive as I want the Win7 mainly for running an airfoil engineering program that is Win specific (Profili2). Otherwise, I will install it in another partition (partition #3). If it doesn't work, I can simply use Win 10 (which I hate!) Code: Select all sudo add-apt-repository ppa:colingille/freshlightĭo you have a Win7 ISO already downloaded?
